IN 2011 AND 2012 WE CO-CURATED WITH GIORGIO BISCARO AND MATTEO ZORZENONI, TWO EXHIBITIONS NAMED EDITION of 6 and EDITION OF 9 WANTING TO HIGHLIGHT THE TRANSITION OF ITALIAN CRAFTS IN THE NEW ERA OF TECHNOLOGY. WE PAIRED SKILLED ARTISANS WITH NEWCOMER DESIGNERS TO CHALLENGE NEW POSSIBILITIES AND LANGUAGE OF DESIGN.
THE SUCCESS OF THESE TWO EXPERIMENTS LED US TO DEVELOP A NEW COMPANY FORMAT, SOMETHING GOOD, A 3-YEAR PROJECT THAT LED US TO DEVELOP, PRODUCE AND DISTRIBUTE a SMALL SERIES OF OBJECTS ON THE ONLINE MARKET.
EDITION OF 6: CAN CRAFTSMANSHIP GO TOGETHER WITH DESIGN? THIS EXHIBITION APPROACHED A NEW ANSWER TO THE AGE-OLD QUESTION, INTRODUCING A SERIES OF LIMITED EDITION PIECES BY SIX INTERNATIONAL DESIGNERS, MADE TOGETHER WITH ITALIAN ARTISANS. USING CRAFT TRADITIONS AND MATERIALS, keeping in mind the HIGH-QUALITY FINISHING AND ATTENTION TO DETAILS, WHILE RECEIVING NEW IMPULSES FROM INNOVATIVE DESIGN. ORGANIZED IN COLLABORATION WITH CNA VICENZA
EDITION OF 9: IS ALSO SUBTITLED EXTRACTS FROM A DIALOG. IN FACT, THE DIALOG BETWEEN DESIGNER AND CRAFTSMAN wAS THE CENTRAL THEME OF OUR EXHIBITION AND was DOCUMENTED IN ITINERE, WITH THE AIM OF SHOWCASING THE PART OF THE PROCESS THAT WAS NEITHER DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE FINAL PRODUCT NOR ALWAYS VISIBLE. THEREFORE, IT IS NOT THE DIRECT PASSAGE BETWEEN IDEA AND FORM THAT WAS ON DISPLAY, BUT RATHER A MUCH MORE COMPLEX AND ARTICULATED OPERATION. THROUGH THEIR VERY CREATIONS, THE DESIGNER BECOMES THE MOUTHPIECE OF A TALE CONSISTING OF LOCAL PRODUCERS, MATERIALS, ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND FINISHING, TECHNICAL AND FORMAL EXPERIMENTATION RESULTING IN THE HIGH QUALITY OF THE FINAL RESULTS.
DURING THE 2016 EDITION OF SALONE DEL MOBILE IN MILAN, SOMETHING GOOD PREMIERED A MEANINGFUL COLLECTION OF OBJECTS WHICH CARRIED A STRONG MESSAGE. AFTER THE HIGHLY-APPRECIATED FURNITURE, STATIONARY, KITCHENWARE AND HOMEWARE COLLECTIONS, THE BRAND interpreted the MULTI FACETED features of contemporaneity THROUGH THE MODIFICATION OF AN ARCHETYPAL OBJECT: A CERAMIC TEAPOT. SOMETHING GOOD DEVELOPED HAND-MADE VARIATIONS OF THIS OBJECT, CREATING A 50-PIECE COLLECTION, THAT REPRESENTS A PRECIOUS UNIQUENESS. THE COLLECTION THUS CELEBRATES DIVERSITY AS THE LUCKY OUTCOME OF A MUTATION, SEEN AS A NECESSARY CHANGE AGENT CAPABLE OF CREATING -MORE OR LESS UNTIDILY- DIFFERENT POTENTIAL. THE EXHIBITED OBJECTS WERE THE RESULT OF AN HANDCRAFTED PROCESS OF SCRATCHING, CARVING, BREAKING UP INTO PIECES AND RECOMBINING, MADE ENTIRELY BY S/G FOUNDERS. THE MESSAGE EXPRESSEd BY THE COLLECTION IS CLEAR: THE DIVERSITY IS PRECIOUS AND THE RESULT OF A PERSONAL EFFORT EACH OF US MUST ADVOCATE AND CARRY OUT.
